You're A Gem Treat Peek Box!

It was my friend's birthday yesterday, and she has recently qualified as a nurse, so I have bought her a little nurse's watch to use when she starts her first job in a few weeks. The box it came in was cute, but not as cute as a homemade one! I know her favourite colours are yellow and brown, so I have incorporated that into the box. The box itself is loosely based on a design by Teresa Payne in the USA. I didn't have a background paper that I thought went with the theme of my card, so I stamped my own out on some white card!

The box is made with the following (All Stampin' Up! unless stated):

Cardstock: So Saffron, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral & Whisper White
Inks: So Saffron, Early Espresso & Calypso Coral
Punches: 1 3/4" Scallop, 1 3/8" Circle
Stamp Set: You're A Gem
Ribbon: Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon
Other: Velcro cut to size, Dimensionals & clear celophane for the cut out.

My friend loved her present, and I am sure your friends would too! You can adapt this box to fit any colour scheme, please email me if you would like a tutorial.

Julie's Jems Quarterly Training!

Last Saturday, 14th January 2012, I took part in my very first Stampin' Up! training session, organised by Julie Kettlewell. I went along with my upline, Yvonne Hunt. This was the first time I had ever been to an all day crafting event (as much as I potter about at home, I never go anywhere!)

The whole day was absolutely fabulous and I learned loads of new tips and tricks to do with stamping and running workshops. I was also lucky enough to win a full stamp set in the raffle! Check me out!

The first part of the day started out with swapping. For those of you who do not know what this is - this means making a sample project to take with you and swap with other people on the day. Now this was no mean feat considering there were 33 people attending!

I thought long and hard about what to make with my limited resources - turned out this worked in my favour as I used 2 colours that I hadn't thought of using before. I decided to have a go at making name cards that could be used at a dinner party or a child's birthday party. I also decided to use the new Cupcake Builder Punch that makes playing with cupcakes so much fun!

Here is a peek at one of the colours along with a picture of all my swaps together, ready to go

As you can see the majority of my place-cards were all in one colour, but I ran out towards the end!

I used the following (all from Stampin' Up!) to make my name cards.

Cardstock:     Melon Mambo (Wisteria Wonder for the odd couple)
Paper:            Tempting Turquoise & So Saffron
Inks:               Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise & Real Red
Stamps:          Create-A-Cupcake Stamp Set
Punches:        Cupcake Builder Punch, 1 3/4 inch Scallop Circle

You can buy all of these products from the current Stampin' Up! Catalogue if you would like to make something similar! Just contact me and I can send you a catalogue!

We also had the chance to make a beautiful paper handbag, based on a design by Frenchie Stamps.

Here it is!

If you would like to know more about this lovely little bag that is perfect for a little present like jewellery or maybe some buttons and brads, then please email me!

Sneak Peek

I have come across a brilliant website, Scor-Pal®. This is an American website with absolutely loads of design projects for paper crafting. The measurements it uses make it easy to make folded projects. We don't have access to the Scor-Pal tool in the UK at the moment, however you can adapt the instructions to use with a regular paper trimmer and scorer, with a little effort!

I started to make a lovely pop-up 3D jump card, based on a design by Kitty Franken.

It is unfinished as of yet (as I ran out of sticky strip - d'oh!) and have yet to add a sentiment, but here is a peek at how it looks so far!

I will post the finished result later on, with details of what I used to make it!

Quick Cards

Every now and again it is nice just to whip up a card in a few minutes and marvel at just how lovely it looks! I made this card to use some of my Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper. The cardstock is Marina Mist and it one of my favourites. I cut a piece of the DSP to size, and then turned the remenants over and used the Eyelet Border Punch to give me a cute border. I then used the Full Heart Punch and stamped a heart from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set in Marina Mist. I finished this off with a Pearl to dot the 'i' and 3 little hearts from a retired set, cut out using the Heart Builder Punch. If you wanted to make a similar card there is a stamp in the I {Heart} Hearts set that can be used with the Heart Builder Punch. Isn't it lovely? Everything I have used is from the Stampin' Up Catalogue.

Cardstock: Marina Mist (size is 12"x6" to give a 6"x6" card)
DSP: Beau Chateau (I used a 6"x6" piece - 4"x6" for the main and 1"x6" for each border)
Punches: Full Heart, Heart Builder, Eyelet Border
Inks: Marina Mist

Owls About A Present Then?

I told you in my last post that the Owl Punch could be used to make all kinds of lovely things. Here is a photo of one of the presents my lovely Stampin' Up upline Yvonne Hunt (who cased this idea from Nicky Worrillow) gave to me for my birthday at the end of last year.

This is just an ordinary 2012 week view diary, covered in Designer Series Paper from the Stampin' Up Catalogue and then decorated with ribbon, stamps and some of the different punches that are available. Isn't this lovely? It is a perfect example of how you can transform something ordinary into a beautiful gift, without breaking the bank.

You can check out Yvonne's blog here. She updates regularly with beautiful things that she has made.

Owl'ing Around

The Stampin' Up Owl Builder Punch is one of my all time favourite punches that are available from the catalogue. Not only can you create beautiful little owl designs to add to your projects, you can use the punch to make many, many more little items!

Here is a sneak peak of what the owl punch can do, with many more to come!

The Owl Builder Punch is available for just £15.50. There really is so much you can do with a punch like this one, so it really does suit someone on a budget as the possibilities are endless! I will be adding more photos soon to show you what you can do too! You can order this by clicking on the contact page and getting in touch with me!
